circus company welcomes a new artist on the label: the homewreckers. named after a track by southern soul legend sam dees, the production collective from germany has been moving and breaking new ground between detroit techno, abstract funk and melancholic disco music since 1995. their debut album amercian ruhr has been released on unique records in 2008 and creates an absolutely distinctive sound which seems to come straight out of a from a feverish dream populated by the ghostlike figures of larry graham, juan atkins, frank hutter, bernard edwards, erik b or al green. the not my business ep perfectly shows how the homewreckers flow on these two original tracks. you feel the funk, you feel detroit and you feel a deep and unique sense of music. cherry on the cake, you got a remix from san francisco based artist dave aju who is back on the label after his much acclaimed album open wide released in 2008. not my business isnt their first shoot on the label as they were already part of last months snuggle & slap circus company compilation with a brilliant live-version of chicago urban blues.

the remixes come from prominent producers around europe, so starting chronological from a2 to b2: sian has appeared on a lot on raves and parties with his surf board. he is an international traveller who loves to be reminded of the times when surfing farmers left their houses with door frames and no doors. his remix works in a way a countdown functions. building up tension at an incredible speed, this track is set out to explode... but sian would not be sian if he had not developed a club friendly torture . sian rides the wave of superfatt basslines and adds a sequence that sounds as if someone had replaced his teeth with thin pieces of metal, creating a humming voice comparable to one of a jaws harp. sian keeps the tension going with very few elements and shows he is a true masterof techno.
secret cinema has been accompanying us since his first releases mid of the 90ies and we truly believe quality prevails, not to mention his mayor chart hit just 3 months ago with “shake ur tech-ass”. well secret cinema is unbelievably massive in his production. we dont see how anyone can fatten up the sound more than he can. but it is not only about tuning and pimping and pimping and tuning... his remix is a masters piece of perfectionbecause it creates something rare... deep emotional hydraulic strength. this is like diving head on into a pool of silicone and getting sucked into it. this track has an hypnotic feel to it that is comparable to radiohead.
darko esser is an icon in the techno scene of the netherlands. his remix takes the track in to a direction you would not expect it could go to. starting rather minimal darkos remix soon takes a turn and brings in jack elements and cool nostalgic melodies that will warm the heart of every detroit techno lover. was it derrick may who played chords like this... these strings are looked up in the back of our heads like childhood memories of having your first popcycle exploding in your mouth. this is soulful music with just enough analogue imperfection and warmth to it.

juan pablo pfirter and gary beck, two of the most uptodate technojerks these days, are the openers for the remixseries on alex baus credo imprint. delivering 10 high class techno releases over the last 3 years alex felt it was time to see how other professionals deal with his soundmaterial, and the first remix 12 inch could not be better. pfirter with a remix that couldnt be more fat while gary beck chooses the more dark approach with an enormous drive on the bass. this is a statement, and the following remixes from people like chris liebing, secret cinema, perc, jonas kopp, remute and drumcell will have to perform well to keep the level! top techno productions, just as you are used to on credo!

spirit catcher is becoming more and more a permanent member of the systematic family. after their debut e.p. last year and their contribution to the >5ysyst< project last summer, these three tracks are their latest productions on my systematic imprint. something which always impresses me a lot is how jean and tom continue todevelop their distinctive spirit catcher sound, no matter if they release on 20:20 vision, nrk, moodmusic or elsewhere. its always an awesome mixture of fluffy driving house beats, a portion of deepest darkness and freshhypnotic sounds figures! i love the way how they do install the dark organ melody at >sedona<. the organ soundspretty outta space and lets me float away once i have closed my eyes. also, the mystic mood at >future fools<generates me a goose skin, every time i hear it. classic sounding track by two long going and respected techno heads.. fabrice lig and titonton. these guys take it back to the early nineties when techno was still fresh and new... the days that titonton and dan curtin were debuting with their sophisticated techno sound. raw funky 909 percussion, bleepy analogue synths and great warm string sounds and beautiful melodies. purist techno tracks that never go out of style and reminds the old blokes why we loved techno in that period so much. and it shows the young cats that there is more then the standard dj tool techno! beanfield is on remix duty here... and he delivers an updated modern dancefloor friendly house version with a great string section that reminds a bit of knights of the jaguar and a killer bassline after the break. check!

>i have always had close ties with fabric and this time they have really paid off. fabric were putting together a new cd called >elevator music< that featured a lot of the new uk drum n bass/house hybrid material coming out right now. they sent me a couple tracks by a new guy named julio bashmore which i really liked. literally the next night i had a gig in bristol and julio came to the show and gave me even more tracks. these were my favorite two tracks of his. i really like this mix of jungle and house. i also like this new breed of producer who isn’t scared or mired in tradition. i’m definitely feelin it!<

hotflush two presents a 3 track ep from london based producer sigha. developing his sound from his first two releases on hotflush which circulated on the edge of dubstep, these tracks dive headlong into deep, dubbed out house and techno, soaked in sub bass.

timeless dancefloor fire gets a timely seasonal release on this exclusive double 12 inch pack. its the first compilation of artists from the desolat family - and its a manifesto of sorts, showcasing the different facets of the desolat sound. these artists, in their own ways, unpack multiple meanings of house & techno to create unique tangents. munichs tini steps out with her debut release: a staggered, raw dance track representative of her electrifying, wired-up dj sets. its the first solo outing on desolat for studio guru martin buttrich: his sensitive manipulation of delicate sonic quicksand underpinned with an insistent beat. argentine muso guti drops his second release on desolat, contributing chipped down spatial melodies following his first 2x12inch on the label, las cosas que no se tocan. loco dice brings his hip hop roots via heavyweight bassline and disembodied groove to truly shake up the house and overturn expectations. shimmering swing is the thing for romanian duo livio & roby featuring george g as premiesku, enunciating their very own definition of dance. lastly, desolats african-italian man yaya develops his sound further - displaying his musical upbringing with a punchy effusive get-up-and-dance vibe. its a fine way to end the year - six glimmering tracks wrapped up on desolats very special 10th release!

in a fresh, light and nippy way mr. russell drums us out of the indian summer into the oriental autumn. pipes of pan prance above this cool arab beat and take a rocking guitar line in between. and because germany becomes extremely cold these days, fenou #9 heats up more pressing than its predecessors and warms us on top with a vocal taken from the arabian nights that crackles in our ears. the flip side shows more deepness and blows over a warm breeze of spanish dance air on the guitar. vocals whisper longingly above the drums, engrossed in thought far away at the seaside. with this record autumnal coldness is long forgotten and expelled.

this ep contains the best cuts from the ifs6 industialization cd. 4 industrial hardcore slammers in true isr vein, with an international flavour feat. tymon (australia), sei2ure (nl), forsaken is dead (usa) and lian (italy). these tracks will be sure to find their way into loads of dj sets.

smaul recordings should not be suggestive of being fed by productions of acid pauli, only. however, creative times need being used and martin gretschmann - aka console - member of the notwist - alias acid pauli has collected lots of material whilst the scarce time left last year. on smaul 07 he follows his self-weaved red thread of the year. acid pauli confides more & more in a certain house rhythm paired with these melancholic layered sound-synthesis, already well known by him. astonishing things emerge out of acid paulis musical waves, sometimes even scientially croon quite a bit. nymbiotic (a) comes relaxed but holds a great melody up in the sleeve - seasonly peppered. symbiotic (b) rests bit on minimal house, but acid pauli never relied on that genre. thus, this track does not remain as it seems after three minutes. glitches and sounds break it up to evolve a new symbiosis. symbiotic becomes more timeless in spite of siren-climax peaks and an obsessive string chorus fading in the end.

absolutely superb debut release from paul bennett on the new modernista label. he shares his love for raw machine music as exemplified by mid to late eighties labels like trax, dj international, dance mania & hotmix5 across these four tracks of expertly constructed retro deep house, acid and emotive electronic disco timeless music, which totally redefined the clubbing soundtrack, revisited and rendered in glorious modern production technicolour homage, yes... but with enough noughties nouse to win over a whole new generation.
